Amazing Batik Industry in Sri Lanka

The origin of ‘batik’ industry marked in countries like Indonesia and Malaysia. The Dutch has brought batik to Sri Lanka and the industry was established in the last century. But, some evidences are proving its long history in Sri Lanka. Hence, it has been identified as one of the most important and traditional industries in the country. The batik production runs as a small scale industry generating employment opportunities for many talented artists in Sri Lanka. Most of the batik wear are made of cotton, but some  made of silk. The art of using wax on fabric when dyeing is batik. This method is known as wax dyeing where cotton used as the material.  The wax is dripped by using a spouted tool called a canting. And it printed by using a copper stamp called a cap. Sometimes use a stiff brush to apply wax to large patterns. The material is immersed in dye and the wax is removed with boiling water. Traveling is all about the experiences. When it happens in a rural area entirely filled with nature and culture, it unplugs disturbed stuff in routine life of people. It is with great pleasure I send my complements at this remarkable milestone achieved by the Department of Tourism Studies (DTS), Faculty of Management of Uva Wellassa University of Sri Lanka for launching the HTE blog site parallel to the World Tourism Day celebrations 2021 in collaboration with the HTE Club of the Uva Wellassa University and the Ministry of Tourism, Uva Province.  This blog site will undoubtedly become a significant hub for the tourism sector in Sri Lanka by identifying prospective information seekers with the goal of ensuring the industry's long - term growth and sustainability.
